MidWest packs BIGG Exhibition!
MWFA Special Projects - Publish Date: November-12-2009

Columbus, OH – MidWest Fine Art Service and Transportation Co. crews packed and moved the exhibition “Breakthrough Ideas in Global Glass” recently for the Ohio State University Urban Arts Space. The exhibition was sponsored by Steuben Glass steuben.com and displayed this past summer at both Urban Arts Space and Hawk Galleries hawkgalleries.com in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The intent of the international juried selection process was to introduce to the public a select group of artists with a conceptual and working engagement in glass. The 97 pieces of glass artwork in this collection is a demonstration of commitment to advancing new and innovative glass art worldwide. These 10 artists were selected by the Jury as the 2009 BIGG Best in Show exhibitors: Hyunsung Cho, Vanessa Cutler, Steven Durow, Ben Johnson, John Kiley, Sungsoo Kim, Martie Negri, Richard Price, Karen Reid, and Amy Rueffert.

MidWest packing crews of Ron Kartler and Charles Eiben spent 8 days preparing the entire exhibition for both the return of works to artists, and the shipping of select works from the BIGG exhibition to SOFA Chicago 2009 sofaexpo.com.  MidWest F.A.S.T. transport team Tony Pounds and Tony Pounds Jr. moved the exhibition to the Navy Pier in Chicago. MidWest F.A.S.T. transport team Ken Bruns and Ron Kartler returned to works back to Lorain, OH for dispersal service back to the artists.

Below, Karen Reid's large installation Creek is ready to pack. Nine pieces of cast-optic crystal that resemble strips of frozen water.
